Prof. Dr. Jiong Zhou | Supramolecular Chemistry | Research Excellence Award

Jilin University | China

Jiong Zhou is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Chemistry, College of Sciences, at Northeastern University, Shenyang, China. He obtained his PhD in chemistry from Zhejiang University under the supervision of Feihe Huang and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research with Timothy R. Cook at the University at Buffalo. He later established his independent research group at Northeastern University, where he focuses on responsive self-assembly, supramolecular coordination complexes, and functional materials based on host–guest chemistry. His research has led to the publication of more than seventy peer-reviewed papers in supramolecular chemistry, which have attracted over four thousand citations worldwide, reflecting strong international impact. He actively contributes to the academic community as a young editorial board member of several leading journals spanning chemistry, materials science, pharmaceuticals, energy, and interdisciplinary research. In addition to research excellence, he is deeply committed to education and talent cultivation, having successfully guided undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students to national-level awards, scholarships, and innovation prizes. His achievements have been recognized through numerous honors for scientific leadership, teaching excellence, editorial service, and mentorship, establishing him as an influential young scholar in supramolecular chemistry and functional materials research.
