Dr. Gustavo Rivero, M.D., is an accomplished hematologist and oncologist currently serving as Director of the Leukemia Translational Biology Program at the Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute, affiliated with the University of South Florida. He obtained his M.D. from Francisco de Miranda University, Venezuela, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, followed by fellowships in Hematology and Oncology at the NHLBI-NIH and Leukemia at Johns Hopkins University. With over a decade of academic experience at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also served as Associate Professor, Dr. Rivero has made significant contributions to leukemia and myeloid malignancy research. His scholarly output includes 4 peer-reviewed publications, cited 431 times across 426 documents, demonstrating an h-index of 4 according to Scopus. He has received multiple honors, including the Early Career Faculty Award for Excellence in Patient Care and the Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Excellence Awards at Baylor. Dr. Rivero’s ongoing academic and clinical endeavors are complemented by his leadership roles at Georgetown University and his pioneering educational initiatives such as HemAdvances.
