Professor Hirokazu Kumazaki, M.D., Ph.D., is a distinguished scholar and clinician in neuropsychiatry with a strong academic and clinical background, currently serving as Professor at the Department of Neuropsychiatry, Nagasaki University, School of Medicine. Having earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Neurophysiology from Keio University and he has built an extensive career across leading Japanese medical institutions, including Keio University, University of Fukui, Kanazawa University, the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, and Nagasaki University. His clinical expertise spans nearly two decades as a psychiatrist in top hospitals, complemented by leadership roles in research and psychiatry education. Professor Kumazaki has published an impressive body of work, with 82 peer-reviewed international papers, including 32 as first author, one as co-first author, and 44 as co-author, while serving as senior or corresponding author on most of them. His research contributions have been widely recognized, reflected in an h-index of 27, over 2,950 citations, and 86 Scopus-indexed documents. His scholarly focus encompasses preventive interventions for psychiatric disorders, child mental development, and innovative approaches in future psychiatry, making him a leading figure advancing translational research and clinical practice in the field of neuropsychiatry.
