Dr. Mohammed Yousif Fattah is a distinguished Iraqi scholar in geotechnical and civil engineering, widely recognized for his extensive academic, research, and professional contributions. A professor at the University of Technology in Baghdad, he has built a career defined by scientific leadership, innovation, and educational excellence. His academic foundation includes a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Baghdad. Over the years, he has held prominent administrative roles, including Head of the Roads and Bridges Branch, Head of the Scientific Promotion Committee, Member of the University Promotion Committee, and currently Deputy Dean of the Civil Engineering Department. Dr. Fattah’s research productivity is exceptional, with over 400 published papers, h-index: 31, citations: 3,724, and documents: 301 indexed in major databases. His supervision record is equally impressive, guiding M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses across multiple engineering disciplines, including geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources. He has also supervised postgraduate students internationally in the USA, Russia, and Malaysia. Dr. Fattah is an active member of key professional bodies, including the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, ASCE, EASD, and the Iraqi Society of Soil Mechanics. His innovative contributions are further demonstrated through 14 registered patents, covering advanced geotechnical apparatuses, soil improvement techniques, asphalt stability devices, and earthquake simulation systems. With a career grounded in scientific rigor and continuous innovation, Dr. Fattah remains a leading figure advancing geotechnical engineering research and practice in Iraq and beyond.
