Dr. Kishalay Paria began his academic journey with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Physiology from Vidyasagar University in 2008. He continued to pursue a M.Sc. in Biotechnology (2010), followed by a B.Ed. in Education (2013). His dedication to scientific excellence was reflected in his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Biotechnology (2021), where he conducted ecological studies on fungi of the Subarnarekha River, with a focus on the bioremediation role of Aspergillus penicilliodes. Dr. Paria further solidified his academic credentials by qualifying in W.B. SET, GATE, North-Eastern SLET, and AP & TN SET in Life Sciences.

Dr. Paria currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Vidyasagar University, West Bengal. He has held various positions such as Guest Lecturer, Contractual Faculty, and Adjunct Faculty, spanning across departments of Zoology, Nutrition, and Distance Education. With a teaching career that began in 2014, he has nurtured countless students while promoting interdisciplinary learning in biological sciences.
Dr. Paria’s research is deeply rooted in environmental biotechnology, microbial ecology, and green chemistry. He has made significant contributions through fungal bioremediation studies, particularly on Aspergillus penicilliodes, for removing heavy metals like lead and cadmium from aquatic ecosystems. He has also delved into green nanotechnology, antibacterial activity of fungi, and COVID-19 preventive mechanisms involving melanin and vitamin D synergy. His innovative work has been featured in high-impact journals including Chemosphere, BMC Chemistry, Elsevier, and Springer.
