Mrs. Georgia-Nektaria Porfyri is a specialist psychiatrist with extensive clinical, academic, and research experience in mental health care, disaster psychiatry, and neuropsychiatry. She currently serves as a consultant psychiatrist in a general hospital setting and contributes as a court-appointed expert psychiatrist, while also participating in national health committees related to disability assessment. Her professional practice spans acute and community psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and interdisciplinary care, with a strong focus on vulnerable populations, including victims of domestic violence and individuals with severe mental illness. She has held leadership roles coordinating multidisciplinary healthcare teams and is actively involved in psychiatric education and professional training for healthcare providers, emergency responders, and civil protection personnel. Dr. Porfyri’s research interests include stigma and discrimination in mental health, psychiatric comorbidity in neurological and medical conditions, disaster and emergency psychiatry, burnout and resilience among healthcare professionals, and psychosocial dimensions of violence and abuse. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented widely at national and international medical and psychiatric conferences. In addition to her clinical and research activities, she serves as a reviewer for international medical journals, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based psychiatric practice and mental health policy.
