Dr. Pratik Kad | Paleoclimatology | Research Excellence Award

NORCE Norwegian Research Center | Norway

Pratik Kad is an atmospheric and climate scientist specializing in climate dynamics, climate modeling, paleoclimate, and mountain hydroclimate. He is a Postdoctoral Fellow at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and an Affiliate Researcher at the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research in Bergen, Norway. His research focuses on understanding atmospheric processes across past, present, and future climates, with particular emphasis on monsoon dynamics, elevation-dependent warming, and hydroclimatic changes in mountainous regions. His work integrates observational data, climate model simulations, and paleoclimate experiments to assess climate variability and long-term climate responses. Pratik has contributed to international scientific initiatives through active service in global climate research communities, including leadership and advisory roles supporting early-career scientists and climate information for society. His research has received international recognition and has been highlighted by prominent scientific and policy platforms. In addition to his research, he serves as a peer reviewer for leading journals in climate and environmental sciences and as an expert reviewer for major international climate assessment reports.
